Chapter 202 Next!

Verse 1

I'm free and up for grabs again. The job i was on last week was not the one for me.

To make a week-long story short i will just say that they could not match my ambitions or degree of experience but i wish them the best of luck.

Chapter 201 Springdawn Part 2

Verse 1
The story continues and now the heroes Gideon, Chadras and Nestor join the tale.

Your thoughts on who to blame are interrupted by a shout from the Innkeeper Burke.

'The kitchen have some fresh rabbit-stew ready now' he calls shaking a large bell to get the attention of everyone.
Gideon walks up to the Innkeep and asks 'Any chance of getting a roasted rabbit instead? Not very fond of stew.'
Innkeep Burke stops shaking the bell to look at Gideon and answers 'I shall see what i can do, it might take a while though'
'Fine.' Gideon replies and goes back to the others at the table.

As Gideon is making his way back to table he suddenly stops and looks to the far corner of the room. Something seems to have caught his attention.

As Gideon a few seconds later sits down at the table he says to the others, 'We're being watched.' he then rests his chin on his arms on top of the table in a bored fashion with a facial expression to match.
Chadras tries to look without being noticed 'Who´s watching us?' he whispers.
While he continues to eat his stew Nestor listens intently to what Gideon has to say.

With night falling outside and the inns lamps and lanterns waiting to be lit you all find it hard  to see anything suspicious from your table. But you do realize that while you can't get a good look at anyone they can almost certainly see you, clearly illuminated by the crackling fire only a few yards away.
As you sit there trying to locate however is watching you the door opens letting a sheet of rain wash over the nearest tables. In walks two local villagers, one you recognize as the smith Oreshaper, the other Truedealer runs the general-store.

As they both take off their raincoats Oreshaper says to Truedealer 'This weather is getting mighty tiresome my friend'.
'True, true. It feels like midautumn instead of the height of spring.' Truedealer answers.
'Come i will buy us something to warm our bones.' And with that Oreshaper walks up to the bar with Truedealer not far behind.

At their table Nestor streches and yawns saying 'I think I will turn in for the night.'
'Me too I think, I just want to finish the meal.' Chadras says and grabs his fork and start eating.
Gideon that is still waiting for his food says. 'You do that. I'll stay up a bit I think. My dinner hasn't arrived yet.'

Nestor and Chadras both soon finish their meals and leave for their respective rooms and shortly thereafter a maid serve Gideon his roasted rabbit, not that big but with a generous helping of fried potatoes and an excellent sauce. With the help of a tankard of beer it goes down nicely.

Meanwhile, the maids go round lighting lanterns and lamps around the room as night closes in.

Chapter 198 Springdawn part 1

Verse 1

This is the first part of something i did with some friends a couple of years ago that i thought i could share. I take all the blame for the writing.

The story is about a group of adventurers that are wandering about looking for monsters to slay and maidens to save. The tale starts in the village of Springdawn where they are staying at a small inn.
Any one who has played PnP RPG's might recognize the setup

Verse 2

The logfire in the large fireplace gives off a pleasant warmth that together with the smell of burning pine-resin make this evening almost bearable as you are all sitting at your usual table at the small country inn where you have been staying  for the last two weeks. A miserable two weeks at that!
Sure to tell the truth it was nice enough in the beginning. The food was a welcome change from travel-rations and the beer was cold and plentiful.
The thing that probably gnaw at you the most is the rain, the endless cold wet wet rain. It never stops, at night it might let up a little but it never stops.

Sure you could move on and march in the rain, gods only know that you have done it before. The problem is that the only bridge over the swollen river has been washed away and you have no real desire to turn back. Besides there is not much turn back to, the ruins you investigated on your way here were empty and even if you wanted to go back the gateway home is on the other side of the river.
All of you would readily admit that you have had  quite a pleasant journey so far the last month, pleasant up until now that is so and perhaps you had it coming. No luck lasts forever.

Not that there is anything really wrong with the inn or the small village in which it resides, even the surrounding countryside is beautiful, but you have seen all there is to see of it. Many times over.
There is not much to say about the inn that would surprise any one, it's a typical country inn with two stories made of wood and stone. One large common room with tables and benches that could comfortably hold fifty or so people and a long bar on  most of one side with a door leading to the kitchen.
The second story hides nothing more than a number of bedrooms of which you are holding the keys to some.
Springdawn itself are one of those small villages that dot the lands everywhere. A couple of hundred villagers and farmers centered on a village common to which the inn is closest.

As you now sit around the table slowly inching closer to the fire you all wonder who it was that first suggested that a journey to Springdawn was a good idea. Not only had you not heard of it before, but is soon became apparent that it was also quite the hike to get there.
But as the culprit had said, Springdawn sure sounds nice!

Chapter 197 Gratz m8!

Verse 1

Tomorrow or rather later today a bunch of friends are all going out to celebrate a birthday. It is advertised to start at 15.30 but i think i will postpone my participation somewhat because to stagger home about the time normal people eat dinner will be too embarrassing to contemplate.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that i will be somewhat worse for wear come Saturday whenever i join up but anyways, to you J Slántie!

Chapter 196 What groups do you support?

Verse 1

Now it has happened again. A group on Facebook that originally promised to give money to heart-research for each member changed name and purpose when it had gotten 80000 members.
It went from charity to wanting to remove women's right to vote.

This was reported here and the founder claims the purpose was to provoke as well as increase awareness and encourage Facebook-members to question more.
I will not speculate as to if this is true or not but i am not a member of any groups on Facebook and it is not likely i will become one unless i am confident that the founder or organisation behind it can be trusted.

One question i have among others concerning what happened is this:
How is it possible to so completely change the purpose of a group without alerting the members. Shouldn't they be automatically notified by Facebook that changes has been made?

It seems to me that it would be an easy fix.

Chapter 193 Christmas shopping

Verse 1

We braved the mall in Farsta today, not to do some shopping for Christmas but just some shopping in general and i was surprised. Positively surprised by the lack of music heavily laced with Christmas spirit in the stores, i say laced as in laced with poison because it affects me in a bad way. Sure there were some stores that had the thrice-damned music but more that didn't and i applaud that even though what they did play was not that good.

There was actually not that big of a crowd to speak of either but there was a distinct feeling of things to come and i do not relish the thought of going shopping in a week or two.

For now i will focus on getting get rid of my cold instead with some saffron buns for company, at least for a little while and not dwell on future shopping nightmares.

Chapter 191 And then there is fishing you can enjoy

Verse 1

I talked about fishing a while back and in that example it was less than relaxing. In this new place it is all about tranquility. A nice henge in the background to make your camp by and a splendid little waterfall nearby for company.
Too bad about the weeds close to shore, they snag my hook.

Not bad at all

The wolf in the picture is a friend.

Chapter 190 Do´s and don'ts on Facebook, according to some

Verse 1

In any community, a real life one or one on internet like Facebook or Twitter there are rules. Some are actual conditions of use set up by the company running the community and some are those that the users themselves adopt and usually agree on, at least to some extent. Then there are others that are invented and often forcibly pushed forward by some that seem to think that they know best.
Several i found in this article are like that i think but i leave it up to you to decide for yourselves.

1. The worlds most boring status.
2. Personal messages on the wall.
3. The "I'm so great!" - status.
4. The pictures that God forgot.
5. The pictures no one is interested in.
6. Conversations between partners.
7. Unnecessary chats.
8.  A status with a "sell by date".
9. Ad Facebook.
10. Unmotivated friends-requests
more..

Luckily we have all the freedom of choice as users of Facebook to read or ignore any and all messages, status updates and links posted. We can look at and enjoy our friends pictures or choose not to.
Making up rules for the purpose of trying to limit the creative use of a social network runs against the idea of the community when it serves no real positive use.
So what if some one puts up 50 pictures of his dog? If i like dogs i might look at some or all of them and if not i wont. No rule is needed and that is all there is to it in my opinion.

I myself regularly violate rule number 9. Spank me, i've been naughty.
What about you?

Chapter 189 Other relaxing things to do

Verse 1

Men has through the times always said that fishing is relaxing. You get out in to the nature and there is just you and the fish that you will hopefully catch. A true fisherman will of course claim that it's not necessary to catch anything, the experience is the point. Yea right!

Anyway, cynical person could think that it's the getting out that's the point, getting out from family, work and real obligations but that's not the subject of this post at all.

Sure, fishing can be relaxing but not under the conditions below, with a hostile wildlife and fish that come with this warning.
" A twisted fish that live in fel pools and lava. Do not eat!"

Do you have pictures of you fishing in a bad place? Send them in and i will get them up.
