Chapter 153 The meaning of it (subject matter can be upsetting )

Verse 1

Most have had days in their life when it feels like it's not worth getting up but for some that is the feeling of every day.
No one will notice or care either way so why bother at all? You feel isolated, disregarded and out of place but the pain helps.
You hear the well-meaning remarks about how it will change and surely it's not as bad as all that.
It is for you but the pain helps.

Long nights and dark hours, lonely nights and dark feelings, long thoughts and dark decisions.
When the night is at it's darkest and the blade is out, when you believe that the legacy you will be remembered for, all you can hope and aim for, all you will leave behind is scar symmetry.
Your finest quality is scar symmetry.

Verse 2

Tonight going back home from dinner i saw the two words Scar Symmetry on a poster and at once felt something. It is a band name but to me they spoke of something more, something i tried to write down.

Many teenagers today cut themselves and among girls as many as 16% in the ages 15-24.
I don't presume to think i know how they feel or that this post will make a difference but i wanted to write it.

Some make it through without help and some do not. Do you stand by and hope for the best?

  1. Are you your brothers keeper?
I can't make the pain others feel vanish. I can, sometimes, stand by them when they need to be not-alone. Not pass by them on my way to something more important. What can be more important than my fellow men and women?
    I don't have a lot of answers.
The only thing I think I know is that not talking about what makes people hurt makes the hurt worse. So, upsetting or not, let's talk.

  2. No one can ask for than that. Someone to lean on a little.

  3. One of the things is, to be able to stand by someone who's fighting his/her demons, you run the risk of facing your own. I think that's one of the reasons many walk away, fear of their own demons. I can't fault anybody who's afraid to fight demons, demons are frightening.

  4. Yeah I think that's the most you can do. And that's hopefully all that's needed.
One of the problems is that to stand by someone facing demons you run the risk having to face some of your own. And that's an incentive to turn a blind eye. I mean, demons are scary. Who would wanna face them?

On the other hand, you gotta face yourself at the end of the day. How is that if you turn a blind eye to someone who needed a helping hand? Doesn't it suck? I think it does for most people, but then again, sometimes you don't have the strength to face your demons. So maybe you needed the helping hand too. There are a lot of two-way streets here I think.
    And no easy answers.
